What makes us unique?

Our operational model is defined by a practice-driven strategy that moves beyond advisory to active co-creation and venture building. We do not simply write reports or offer guidance from a distance; we immerse ourselves in the commercialisation process alongside our portfolio companies. We provide deep, hands-on support in the critical areas where even the most brilliant innovations falter: making their first sales, navigating the complexities of the commercialisation process, and gaining access to new markets.

This hands-on approach is enabled by a robust and expanding global network. With established partnerships and operational reach in the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Cuba, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Brazil, OCTD possesses a rare ability to open doors in diverse and often challenging markets. This is not merely a list of geographies but a testament to our capacity to navigate complex regulatory, cultural, and economic landscapes, providing our ventures with a crucial competitive advantage.

Our Mission

A cornerstone of our philosophy is a commitment to designing and implementing alternative business, ownership, and investment models. We recognise that the standard VC equity model is not the only, nor always the best, path for climate ventures. By exploring structures such as cooperatives, steward ownership, and multi-stakeholder governance, we provide our startups with a genuine "second chance" to succeed on their own terms. This allows them to secure the finance and governance support they need without diluting their core mission or ceding control to interests that may not align with their long-term vision for impact.

This model allows OCTD to operate on two synergistic levels. At one level, we are a direct venture developer, providing intensive, bespoke support to a curated portfolio of high-impact companies. At another level, we are an ecosystem coordinator, developing tools and platforms that change the rules of the game for the entire sector.
These two roles are mutually reinforcing: the hands-on work with startups generates real-world data and insights that inform our ecosystem-level projects, while those projects, in turn, create a more favourable and intelligent environment for our portfolio companies to succeed. This dual-track strategy is a key differentiator, allowing us to generate impact at both the micro and macro levels.
